There are plenty of taxis available and there is good mobile network coverage coverage for you to be able to phone from the house.

General Information
 
Language; Some English  is spoken, especially in shops and the resort but the main language is Bulgarian. A phrase book is useful or at least print off some from one of the many   sites on the net
  • Easyjet fly from Manchester & Gatwick, Sky Europe from Manchester & Luton, Wizzair   from Luton . Sofia international airport is just 50 km~ fifty minutes drive to the house
  • Mobile phones. There is good mobile coverage from the house and most networks link with Bulgarian networks.
  • Drive on the right side of the road. Most road signs away from the more populated areas are in Cyrillic, however after a bit of study the place names become easy to recognise
  • Bulgarians are naturally friendly and honest.
  • Currency; The Bulgarian Leva is worth about £0.33p.  Cash points are common place in towns and the resort.
  • A superb new supermarket,'Europe' is just minutes from the chalet on the road to Samokov. Here you will find everything you could ever want from a supermarket. Wines such as Telish (red) & Traminer by Targovischte (white) & a wonderful Gin by Targovischte. Top class food as well! Rows of cheeses, meats, vedge and a delicatessan to rival the best.
  • Food is  of mediterranean origin with traditional dishes such as a one pot mildly spicy  chicken  peppers, onions and olive oil dish, grills and the delicious Shopska salad which is much like a Greek salad.  In Samokov there are many different types of resturants including a very good Chinese. In the resort you will find Turkish food at the Hunter's Resturant, Greek at the Eagles Rock, the famous Katies Steak hose and many others. A beer will cost from £0.15p  in Dospei to  about £0.50p in Borovets  and a three course meal from £3.00 in Samokov  to £10.00 in the resort.
  • Taxis are readily available
  • We can email a list of reasonably priced options such as airport transfers/ski & snow board hire,tuition/ lift passes, taxis to & from the chalet (10~15 minutes from the slopes)

The water comes from our own bore hole.We drink it but advise drinking bottled water. It is better to be safe than sorry.
